Buddy legend lives on

South Western Times

The career of rock and roll pioneer Buddy Holly spanned just two years but left a legacy of hits that are being brought back to life by tribute artist Scott Cameron.

Donning Holly’s trademark horn-rimmed glasses and with his engaging and charismatic figure and lilting vocals, Cameron is bringing Buddy: The Concert to Bunbury in September.

The performance will see Cameron belt out Holly’s catalogue of songs whilst also performing the tracks that shaped the 50s culture from artists including Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Eddie Cochran and more.

Cameron’spassion for Buddy is evident within a minute of speaking to him.

‘‘The best thing about playing Holly is hearing someone your own age say to you ‘you made me go out and buy Buddy’s records and now I love him’ or seeing someone cry remembering having their first kiss to a Holly song,’’ he said.
