The competition in the Bunbury Senior Basketball League is heating up with only two games to go before the finals get under way. In the men’s fixtures, the offensive juggernaut of Bulls Maroon — fresh off scoring 124 points against their nearest rival Bulls Gold — will look to strengthen their grip on the competition’s top spot against sixth-placed Aces Sky, who will be trying to end a four-game losing skid. Bulls Gold will want to address their loss to the competition’s leaders against third-placed Tornadoes Red, who remain a chance of jumping into second spot if they secure wins in both their remaining games. The two teams fighting for the last finals spot will go head to head, with fourth-placed Conquerors having the chance to lock down their place and eliminate their opponents, fifth-placed Tornadoes Black. A bottom of the table clash will see Eaton Eagles, who have been more competitive in recent weeks, look to pick up their first victory of the season against seventh-placed Aces White. The women’s games will have major implications on the makeup of the finals, with three teams — Aces Navy, Aces Sky and Tornadoes Red — all tied on 11-7 records behind the dominant Tornadoes Black, who take on sixth-placed Conquerors. A clash with fifth-placed Eaton presents a golden opportunity for Aces Sky to put some distance between themselves and the chasing pack, while the outcome of the contest between Aces Navy and Tornadoes Red will go a long way towards determining which team secures second spot. All fixtures except for the women’s game between Eaton and Aces Sky — scheduled for Eaton — will be played at the South West Sports Centre on Friday night.
