Carpark sale complete

A multi-million dollar deal has been made over one of Bunbury’s biggest carparks, making way for a retail hub and department store in the CBD.

Following months of negotiations after Bunbury City Council knocked back an offer well under the market valuation of the Cornwall Street decked carpark, the South Western Times can reveal a sale price has been agreed.

Centrepoint Shopping Centre owners Primewest has bought the prime CBD land for $6.3 million.

The sale comes as the council last week endorsed the Bunbury Centrepoint Activity Centre Plan, which outlines the expansion of the shopping centre, upgrades to Stirling Centre and plans for a two-storey department store on the carpark site.

Mayor Gary Brennan has spruiked the agreement as a “win-win” for all parties and said he was pleased with the outcome.

Mr Brennan echoed his previous comments that any development on the land would need to include parking.
