Work is progressing well on the $14.7 million redevelopment of the Collie Health Service, with the new operating theatre complex and the roof replacement nearing completion, keeping the project on track for completion by mid-2023.

Premier Mark McGowan and health minister Amber-Jade Sanderson received a progress update on the facility while in Collie on Friday, where they announced the project’s latest recipients.

The kitchen refurbishment, set to include new ceilings, vinyl flooring, walls and equipment, will be completed by Impala, while ArteryMedia have been awarded the community arts project contract.

The state-of-the-art redevelopment will also include a waiting room, reception, consult room, telehealth room and patient recovery bays, as well as upgrades to upgrades to heating, cooling and ventilation systems, replacement of hot water systems, upgraded electrical systems and upgraded car park lighting.

Bunbury builders Perkins WA was awarded the contract for construction works in March 2022, which will see the operating theatre complex completely upgraded.

Ms Sanderson said she was pleased to see the redevelopment take another leap forward.

“This priority project will ensure the people of Collie-Preston have access to quality health facilities closer to home and will equip this important health service for the future,” she said.

Collie-Preston MLA Jodie Hanns said the health campus was an investment in Collie’s future.

“These upgrades to Collie Health Service will make sure facilities for patients and staff remain at the highest standard, ensuring the best local care for our community,” she said.

The redevelopment follows the $7.8 million upgrades to the Collie Hospital in 2017.
