The South West Sports Centre is among a growing list of COVID-19 exposure sites in the South West as the region recorded 16 new cases on Monday.

The cases are among the 1140 new cases recorded in WA, 1136 of these being locally acquired cases and four travel related.

Monday’s figures bring the State’s total number of active COVID-19 cases to 5540, with 11 of these in hospital. There are no COVID cases being treated in ICU.

South West Sports Centre team leader Daniel Clark sent an email to members about midday Monday alerting them to the positive case.

“We wish to advise that a patron of the South West Sports Centre has returned a positive COVID-19 test,” the email read.

“While WA Health has not yet listed the SWSC an official exposure site, we can confirm the positive COVID case attended the centre.”

Anyone who visited the centre’s foyer, sports stadium and stadium change rooms on February 25 between 7pm and 9.30pm is being asked to monitor for COVID-19 symptoms and get tested immediately if symptoms develop.

The centre remains open and staff have conducted a deep clean of the affected areas.

The facility is among a raft of new exposure sites, which include locations in Yallingup, Naturaliste, Eaton and Busselton.

Anyone who visited Swings and Roundabouts in Yallingup on February 26 between 11.10am to 1.30pm, McDonald’s Eaton on February 26 between 3.30pm to 4.30pm, Meelup Farmhouse on February 25 between 12.30pm to 1.30pm, or the Esplanade Hotel in Busselton from 1.30pm to 2.30pm on February 22 is asked to monitor for symptoms and get tested immediately if symptoms develop.

Of today’s new positive COVID cases, 476 results are from self-reported positive rapid antigen tests.

At the weekend the WA Government made an Australian first by providing every WA household with five free RATs.

Under the program the State Government will provide an initial 5.3 million free RATs to more than one million households across WA.

Households can register for the free RATs online or by calling 13 26843.
