A four-point second term proved costly for the Printsync South West Slammers women’s side, who lost to the Mandurah Magic by 16 points on Saturday night.

The competitive Slammers contested well with the highly fancied Magic, but could not finish their season with a win as Mandurah recorded a 78-52 victory at the Mike Barnett Sports Complex.

The home side shared the scoring load, as Casey Mihovilovich (19 points and six rebounds), captain Emma Klasztorny (16 points and 13 rebounds) and Briana Klasztorny (18 points and 11 rebounds) all scored in the double digits.

As has been all season, the Slammers’ lack of height in the key hurt them, with the Magic scoring 48 points on the paint and won the rebound count, 57-28.

Georgia Denehey scored 11 points and grabbed three steals for the Slammers in a good performance after coming off the bench, while Courtney Bayliss recorded another double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Dena English scored 10 points and had four assists, but shot at just 28 per cent from three-point range in an uncharacteristic inaccurate performance.

The loss sunk the Slammers to the bottom of the table, with a 2-20 record from their 22 games in 2016.
