Lewis wins Pinjarra Cup

Zach RelphSouth Western Times

Veteran reinsman Chris Lewis romped the Ross Olivieri-trained gelding Im Full Of Excuses to a prevailing 14m-length victory to claim this year’s $50,000 Pinjarra Pacing Cup (2692m) today.

Racing at the Pinjarra Paceway, Im Full Of Excuses won his fourth country pacing cup – having already conquered York, Kalgoorlie and Northam – in dominant fashion.

Im Full Of Excuses was second in the line of betting, with punters heavily favouring the Greg and Skye Bond-prepared Our Jimmy Johnstone pre-race.

However, Lewis and Im Full Of Excuses glided home in the final 200m to cruise to a classy Group 2 win in front of Our Jimmy Johnstone and American Boy.

Im Full Of Excuses has won more than $173,000 in prize money, after snaring 15 victories from 33 starts.

The victory also adds to the evergreen Lewis’ growing list of achievements, which includes the WA Pacing Cup, Fremantle Cup, WA Derby and WA Oaks among his more than 5000 career wins.
