Police have converged on a home in Withers after an incident on Tuesday afternoon in which two explosions were heard.

The home on Devonshire Street has been cordoned off while police conduct an investigation into the incident.

Bunbury Detectives have charged a man in relation to the incident.

Police said that at 4.25pm on Tuesday, police attended the home on Devonshire Street and while they were on the porch, an explosion was heard inside.

The occupant allegedly fled the home but was apprehended by officers before a further explosion was heard. As a result of the explosions the premises caught fire.

Department of Fire and Emergency Service attended and the fire was quickly extinguished.

Two police officers and the occupant attended Bunbury Regional Hospital where they received treatment for minor injuries.

A 48-year-old Withers man has been charged with criminal damage by fire and doing an act with intent to harm that endangers the life, health or safety of another.
