Dana East has continued the bright start to her emerging AFLW career, finishing among Fremantle’s best in Sunday’s win over Greater Western Sydney.

And the exclamation mark on the impressive performance, which included a dominant first half, was a maiden goal at senior level.

The Dockers beat the Giants 7.10 (52) to 2.8 (20) to start their month-long road trip on a high.

The Manjimup product and former Donnybrook star was Fremantle’s best before half-time —leading her side with nine disposals at the main break, to go with seven tackles and three clearances.

She finished with 11 disposals in a performance that drew lofty praise from the Dockers’ reigning W medallist Kiara Bowers.

Her first goal at senior level came in the shadows of half-time when she converted a set shot from the top of the goal square.

East was one of two players, along with Ann McMahon, to kick their first goal for the club after it blooded seven debutants in round one.

“Our young girls, Dana East I think was just incredible and then for ‘Macca’ to get a goal after what she’s been through. That gives me goosebumps still just thinking about it. Those girls were incredible,” Bowers told Fox Footy.

Meanwhile, Bunbury’s Beth Schilling was again watching on as her West Coast Eagles lost 5.3 (33) to 7.4 (46) to the Gold Coast.

The Eagles have started their season with two straight defeats.
