Nichols the star player in Magic win

A sensational performance from Tre Nichols led the Printsync South West Slammers to a 29-point win over the Mandurah Magic on Saturday night at the Mike Barnett Sports Complex.
Nichols scored a season-high 51 points and grabbed six steals to lead the Slammers to the 125-96 victory.
The second-year Slammers’ statistics told the story, hitting seven shots from beyond the arc while also shooting at 55 per cent from the field.
Nichols was well supported by Clive Weeden, who recorded a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Corey Easley is finishing the season strong with 27 points.
The Slammers were slow to get out of the box, but a 39 to 28 second term turned the tide in the visitor’s favour.
Trevor Setty tried hard for the Magic, scoring 30 points, while Ben Smith had a massive game, grabbing 23 rebounds and adding 20 points in a solid performance.
But the Slammers’ shot selection and accuracy was the difference, with the South West side shooting at 49 per cent from the field and 43 per cent from three-point range, compared to the Magic who managed just 38 per cent and 24 per cent.
The Slammers limited their turnovers, as Mandurah scored just five points from the Slammers’ mistakes, but were dominant in the paint, scoring 60 points down low.
A 28-12 final quarter was enough for the Slammers to get their seventh win of the season and with one game left, they have avoided the wooden spoon.
