A motorcyclist was left with life-threatening injuries after an horrific crash on South Western Highway near Davenport yesterday afternoon.

The condition of the 29-year-old man is unknown at this stage, but he was airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital.

Major Crash officers are calling on witnesses who may have seen the incident or the vehicles before the crash, which happened about 2.50pm.

Police say there was a collision between a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle travelling north on the highway and a silver Toyota Aurion sedan near Craigie Street.

It is understood the man driving the sedan was not injured in the crash.

The RAC Rescue Helicopter landed on the highway following the crash, but the motorcyclist was taken away via ambulance after being treated by paramedics at the scene.

He was later flown to Perth.
