Premier checks out upgrade
Premier Colin Barnett this morning inspected road upgrades Coalfields Highway between Allanson and Collie as part of his whirlwind visit to the South West.
Mr Barnett, who is due in Bunbury shortly, said work on the section of the highway between the Bibbulmun Track and Collie was now complete.
The highway has been widened to provide 3.5m lane widths in each direction with a 1.5m sealed shoulder and an additional one metre of unsealed shoulder on each side of the road over a distance of 7.5km.
``The Coalfields Highway is an important transport link connecting Collie to Perth, Bunbury and other communities in the South West,’’ the Premier said.
The State Government has spent $6.5 million upgrading a 7.5km section of the Coalfields Highway between Allanson and Collie.
Work on the section of the road from the Bibbulmun Track to Allanson would be completed by the end of the month.
