Sacha Aschwin Silvain Bykerk chased ex with lawnmower blade, threw bullets at her and slashed her couch

A man threw bullets at his former partner and threatened they had her “name on it” before promising to hurt her with a lawnmower if he found out she was “sleeping around” in a horror ordeal in the South West. Sacha Aschwin Silvain Bykerk, 52, appeared in custody in Bunbury Magistrates Court on Monday, where he pleaded guilty to threatening to unlawfully do an act, being armed in a way to cause fear and breaching a police order, but will have to wait another month to learn his fate. On September 11, Bykerk attended the Preston Beach home of his ex-partner, who at the time was protected by a police order, demanding to speak to her. Once inside the home, he threw shell ammunition at the women, shouting “this has your name on it, this is for you.” Armed with a lawnmower blade, he followed the woman into her bedroom, shouting: “If I found out you’re sleeping around, I’m going to give this to you.” He then took a knife with a 20cm blade from the kitchen and stabbed the woman’s couch once and repeatedly stabbed the wall - leaving the knife embedded in the wall. The prosecution submitted to the court the incident left the victim feeling “extremely fearful and scared.” It was further submitted to the court the man suffers from memory issues, leaving him unable to recall the incident and further have difficulty adhering to police and court orders. Magistrate Benjamin Tyers “refused” to grant bail as a result, saying he had “no confidence” in Bykerk’s ability to stick to bail procedures, given he had a 17-page record of previous breaches “of all sorts.” He will reappear in court on October 10 for sentencing.
