The Department of Parks and Wildlife has issued a warning this morning as smoke blankets the Bunbury area, but it is no surprise for firefighting agencies.

The department has advised the smoke is due to a prescribed burn at Davis Block, south-west of Collie.

The department is continuing its battle to reach its prescribed burning target in the South West.

South West regional fire coordinator Peter Gibson said the department was conducting big burns in the Collie and Harvey areas, with about 15,000ha already burnt.

The smoke is expected to clear by this afternoon, according to the department.
