SWFL colts win title
The South West Football League team have won the CBH Group Colts Landmark Championships, defeating the Great Southern Storm by 16 points today.
Jake Bloomfield was named best on ground as the SWFL won 9.5 (59) to 6.7 (43) at Leederville Oval.
The game started slowly with neither side able to gain control.
A goal to Ethan Burton for the Storm got them in front, but it kicked the SWFL into action.
From then on in the SWFL dominated the first, but they failed to put it on the scoreboard, kicking just one goal through captain Blake Shanahan.
The SWFL again started slowly in the second, but picked up their run and carry.
Jordan Westaway and Reece Ralston ran the wings with pace for the SWFL, while Jorrum Tucker dominated in the ruck, giving his midfielders first option.
The SWFL kicked three straight goals midway through the second term to extend their lead, but late goals to Corey Linthorne and Declan McNamara gave the Storm a two-point half-time lead.
Bunbury midfielder Connor Walker kicked off the third term in style off a half-back flank, setting up the midfielders and repelling constant Storm attacks.
Sensational goals to Reece Ralston and Dylan Heasman kicked the SWFL away and they went into the last quarter with a handy 17-point lead.
Ralstron limped off late in the game with an injury to his right leg after a nasty collision with team-mate Braiden McMullen.
The Storm came at the SWFL late in the game, but could not kick accurately in front of goals, with the SWFL holding on to win for the first time since 2013.
