Team effort brings players together
Bunbury Bowling Club president Dave Delaporte and his loyal army of volunteers were all smiles this week, with the Bunbury Men’s Iron Jack 4s tournament attracting a big field from across WA.
While many of us were waking up on Tuesday morning, Delaporte and company were busy putting the final touches on a massive operation to ensure all was in readiness for the two-day event.
“I got here at 6.30am and I was probably one of the later ones I think,” Delaporte said.
“They are all keen to do a good job and it has been a carnival which has been run for a number of years.
“And for the last three years, we have had the maximum number of people, which is 48 teams of four people.”
Delaporte said the carnival was the biggest of its kind outside of the metropolitan area.
“We have had a big contingent come down from Perth,” he said. It is a big operation for everyone to put it together. The committee do an excellent job.”
