Truck driver dies after rollover on Bussell Highway near Capel

A man who was allegedly driving on the wrong side of a South West highway when he was involved in a crash that killed a truck driver last night will face court today.

Police will allege the 55-year-old Marybrook man was driving a Ford Falcon sedan along Bussell Highway near Capel at about 7.30pm when it crossed into the path of a Volvo semi-trailer.

It will be further alleged the Ford collided with the semi-trailer, causing it to roll off the road.

The driver of the semi-trailer, a man in his 70s, died as a result of the crash.

The driver of the Ford was taken to Busselton Health Campus with minor injuries before being charged with dangerous driving occasioning death.

He is due to appear in Bunbury Magistrate's Court today.

Bussell Highway is closed in both directions between between Stirling Road and Tuart Drive.

Major crash detectives are investigating the death and have asked anyone who may have seen the Ford Falcon yesterday evening to call CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
