2nd Bunbury Sea Scouts receive donation from Bunbury Sea Rescue
The 2nd Bunbury Sea Scouts will be able to spend more time on the water without having to splash out on a new boat thanks to a donation from Bunbury Sea Rescue.
Scouts water activity leader Steve Collins was thankful for the donation of a Zodiac inflatable boat and roadworthy trailer.
“It means we don’t have to divert funds from buying other essential equipment to get a support safety boat,” he said.
“It really means we can focus more on our sailing program and getting kids out on the water.”
Bunbury Sea Rescue skipper Gavin O’Dea said after a restructure of the group’s fleet the boat was no longer needed.
“I’d spoken to them about their vessel and knew they couldn’t afford a new one because they are not funded as well as we are,” he said. “It was about doing something for the community and seeing as though we weren’t using this vessel, we decided to donate it.
“These guys are our future sea persons – they are our future so we want more people to be involved in the scouts.”
