In the months since being named the South West Academy of Sport’s Sports Star of the Year, alumni athlete and swimmer Alex Saffy has continued to impress.

Most recently, the Bunbury young gun was named in the 26-strong Australian Dolphins team that will compete at the 2023 World Para Swimming Championships.

The Manchester-bound team will compete in the 11th edition of the championships taking place from July 31 to August 6

The announcement came after the Australian Swimming Championships at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre, where Alex won bronze in the men’s 100 butterfly multiclass.

Alex previously competed at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and the 2022 World Para Swimming Championships.
