Apprentice honoured to win award for his dream job

Bunbury’s Kurt Grenfell has claimed the 2017 Ulysses Motorcycle Apprentice of the Year Award for the WA and South Australia zones.
Mr Grenfell is a fourth-year apprentice employed by the Apprentice and Traineeship Company and trained by his host employer South West Yamaha.
Each zone winner received a $1000 gift card to spend on tools of the trade.
Mr Grenfell said he had always had an interest in motorcycles.
“I have been riding motor bikes for most of my life and I always enjoyed it,” he said.
“I always sort of tinkered with them but didn’t mess around too much.
“It is kind of a dream job to be able to work with them now as an apprentice.”
Mr Grenfell said he was looking forward to finishing his apprenticeship at the start of next year.
“I think I will probably stay in the South West and keep doing what I do,” he said.
“I’m sure there will be plenty of opportunities in the future but I am happy here at the moment.
“I would like to thank the guys at ATC and South West Yamaha, as well as my lecturer Jason Hoesle, for the help they have given me.
“It is a real honour to win the award.”
