Aqwest boss passes baton

Bunbury’s water supplier, Aqwest, has a new leader with chief executive officer Brad Bevis stepping down after more than a decade in the top job.

Gary Hallsworth has been appointed the water board’s new chief executive officer, but he is no stranger to the corporation.

Mr Hallsworth has been Aqwest’s water services manager for the past 13 years and has more than 25 years experience within the State’s water industry.

He is the project director of the $15 million Glen Iris Water Treatment Plant construction project and oversees the board’s infrastructure, asset management and the development of the long term water supply strategies for the Bunbury region.

Aqwest chairman Stan Liaros said Mr Hallsworth brought extensive experience to the role and was a worthy replacement for Mr Bevis who had been in the top job for 13 years.

“Gary has worked very closely with Brad over many years to develop a solid, strategic direction for Aqwest as well as a first class workplace culture that has made Aqwest the success it is today,” Mr Liaros said.

“The board very much looks forward to working with Gary as he continues Aqwest’s development into the future.”

Mr Liaros paid tribute to Mr Bevis and his successful career with Aqwest over the past 25 years.

“For more than two decades, Brad has significantly influenced Aqwest’s enviable culture and strategic success,” he said.

“He has been a terrific leader who understands communities and the importance of providing an essential and efficient service.

“Brad has instilled the important values of honesty, integrity and respect into the organisation, growing a culture that Aqwest is renowned for.

“I wish Brad a happy and well deserved retirement.”
