Artists collaborate with oceans the star

Inspired by the sea and its coastlines, two South West artists Sharon Hinchcliffe and Tracie Anderson have joined together to showcase an exhibition titled Salt: The Blue Series, at Bunbury Regional Art Galleries.

The idea was hatched by gallery officer Donna Fortescue, who recognised the potential of the collaborative work by the two nautical artists. Sharon Hinchcliffe said Tracie’s 3D ceramics went hand-in-hand with her 2D wall art as they both worked with quirky ocean-themed art.

“We created our own pieces then collaborated for pieces as well,” she said.

“Some of these pieces feature her style with my characters.

“Tracie and I both get inspiration from the coastline which is what drew us together.

“It’s specific to the region as well, Tracie has found objects that come from the coast and then she works them into her ceramics.”

Ms Hinchcliffe said they were honoured to be one of the gallery’s first exhibitions of the year and encouraged people to see the diverse pieces.
