A four-year-old Australind girl has baked her heart out to raise money for the bushfires over East.

Zara Cass said she saw the bushfires on the news and was upset by the burnt koalas.

Zara and her mum, Tammy Cass, wanted to help so Zara thought to “sell some cookies and chocolate slice” to raise money.

The pair started their fundraiser on Sunday January 5 and set up their stall most evenings selling their baked goods for $3 a bag.

Zara’s dad, Peter Cass, set up a GoFundMe for other donations and between that and the baked goods, they raised over $1300 as of Friday, smashing their goal of $1000.

Mrs Cass said they donated to the Red Cross fire relief because they had helped the family in the past.

“The ingredients and that add up but it’s worth it end the end,” she said.

Mrs Cass said she was grateful for the community’s support.

“Some people are coming to give donations without even taking any cookies and some people have offered to make some stuff for Zara to sell,” she said.

“It’s very special they can see the effort she’s putting in.

“I was getting messages from random people saying how can we donate to zara’s fund.”

Zara said she was happy people have been buying the cookies.

“I felt proud of myself,” she said.

Zara received a special thank you pack from a volunteer fire fighter, including a donation for more baking supplies, a DFES cap and badges.
