Two-time Carey Park premiership captain Richard Barnard has been announced as the Panthers’ coach for the 2017 South West Football League season.

Barnard, who captained the Panthers in their 2003 and 2006 premiership victories, last coached in 2014, when he led the Eaton Boomers to their second flag in the club’s history.

The Panthers have been on the hunt for a coach since Jamie Nani headed to Bunbury late last year.

Carey Park president Michael Martinson said the club’s executive and players were excited by the signing of Barnard.

“He was the one we went hard for,” he said.
