Colts and Marist will lock horns in a tantalising Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association first grade grand final rematch on October 14 at the Bunbury Recreation Ground. The Blues, who claimed last season’s decider by 22 runs at the same venue, are tipped to perform strongly again this season, along with Colts and Leschenault. First grade will look a little different this year, with Donnybrook participating in second grade instead, following a handful of seasons in the top flight. Joining the Dons in second grade will be Burekup, who have enjoyed sustained success in third grade. Following last season’s success, the women’s competition, which begins on October 22, will again be split into two divisions — with Donnybrook, Marist, Leschenault, Colts and Dalyellup making up first grade. In women’s second grade, competition debutants Harvey-Benger will join Hay Park, Eaton, Burekup Queen Bees and second XI’s from Donnybrook and Leschenault. For those keen to watch some cricket on Saturday morning, Leschenault will be holding it’s annual LCC XI v President’s XI match at Leschenault Recreation Park, which will run in conjunction with the Ride for Ahlia charity event, featuring Green Caps legend Tom Buchanan. First grade fixtures (round one) Saturday, October 14 — 12.30pm Colts v Marist at Bunbury Recreation Ground, Eaton v Leschenault at Eaton Sports Ground, Hay Park v Collie at Hay Park #1.
