In terms of rivalries in Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association women’s cricket, there is none more intense than the one between the Donnybrook and Marist cricket clubs.

The latest chapter will play out on Sunday at Egan Park, with plenty at stake for both sides.

Although the Blues, who played off against the Dons in last year’s grand final, have not been as sharp at times this season, they still have a very formidable line-up.

Additionally, teams are finding it extremely difficult to bowl them out. Being eight or nine wickets down does not matter to Jessica Barton’s side — they push on and bat as many overs possible.

While several of their gun players did not make big scores during last week’s two-wicket loss against Colts away from home, Tenille Barbetti stood up, scoring a determined half-century against adversity.

Aside from batting out their overs, the Blues — as with every team in the competition — need to remove Donnybrook’s in-form batter Stephanie Jolly early as the game could get away from them if they don’t.

Only Colts have been able to slow her roll so far this year, and Jolly’s removal resulted in the Dons being dismissed for a paltry 72.

In the Bunbury Recreation Ground in Sunday’s other A-Grade clash, Leschenault will look to put last Sunday’s heavy defeat against the Dons behind them when they lock horns with Colts.
