Be wary of trades scam

DEPARTMENT of Consumer Protection is warning South West residents to be wary of unregistered tradespeople after receiving a report of advertising for roof painting being placed around Bunbury.

The department warned consumers to be aware of their rights and ask to see a painter’s registration before agreeing to have major painting work carried out at their property.

To check whether a painter is registered, visit www.commerce.wa.gov.au/paintersearch. Residents can report suspicious activities by calling 1300 304 054.
