A bumper field of 140 golfers is expected at the Capel Golf Club this weekend, when the 2019 Retravision Ladies Summer Cup will take centre stage.

In its 41st year, the 36 hole individual Stableford event requires consistency and patience – although camaraderie off the course is considered by players and officials as equally important.

Getting some practice in prior to Saturday were long-term club members Betty Miller and Noeleen Scott.

The pair said they loved both the fast nature of the greens and presentation of the course – along with the ability to share club hospitality with the many visitors who travelled for the event each year.

Club general manager Paul Campaner was optimistic about the tournament’s success, with at least 28 different golf clubs represented in the field.

Festivities kick off with a nine hole Ambrose event tomorrow afternoon, before the opening round tees off at 7.30am on Saturday.

It is tipped post-tournament presentations will be held from 6pm onwards on Sunday night.
