Big game all set for Souwest Jets as they host Western Roar

Lockdown might have seen the postponement of another round of WANL but the ECU Souwest Jets are set for another big match when they return home to the Eaton Recreation Centre this weekend. The Jets will be hosting the Western Roar on Saturday in round 11. Their round 10 match-up against East Freo Sharks was postponed because of the lockdown. While a decision to potentially reschedule round 10 had not been made at the time of print, Netball WA decided to proceed with round 11 with some restrictions. Although the round’s games in Perth will not have spectators, the Jets/Roar match-up will proceed subject to mask-wearing requirements for those that had been in Perth or the Peel region from June 27 except for players and umpires. Although the Jets remain in a good position to make the finals with their 5-3 record in second place on the ladder, the Roar are hot on their tail in third position on the ladder with a 4-4 record. Despite round 10 being postponed, the Jets are set to go into the contest with momentum on their side after holding off Curtin Hamersley Comets by 10 points at Eaton Recreation Centre during round nine while the Roar fell just short to Southside Demons by two points. The Roar will be holding the historical advantage over the Jets having won four of their last five meetings, including a 57-43 victory at Gold Netball Centre when round one of the 2021 WANL season was finally played last month. However, the last time the two sides met at Eaton Recreation Centre, the Jets managed to hold them off 56-54 in front of their home crowd in 2019.
