Bunbury detectives have released a photo of a bicycle they believe could help in their investigation into a house fire in Capel.

The South Western Times last week revealed the heroic efforts of a young Capel woman who helped her 102-year-old neighbour to safety as her Layman Road home was engulfed by flames.

Detectives are investigating the suspicious blaze, which they say was started by an unknown person setting fire to a car in the driveway of the home.

The incident occurred about 1.30am on Friday.

A second car also caught fire before the blaze burnt through the home, causing about $150,000 in damage.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze and no one was injured in the incident.

Police today released an image of a Mongoose BMX bicycle with distinctive purple handlebars found nearby.
