Bunbury Senior High School’s rich 100-year history has been thoroughly researched, collated and documented in a new book titled A Century of Opportunities by Australind author Graham Houghton.

An 18 month-long project, the book was launched last weekend at the school’s centenary celebrations where past and present students congregated to celebrate one of the State’s first higher learning institutions.

Describing the school as a historically significant edifice, Mr Houghton said it took a great effort and a huge amount of general knowledge to sift through the years of data and write the book.

“I had to slowly filter through all the information, connect the dots, make a connection and focus on a story,” he said.

“The story I’m telling is the school’s impact on the South West from the early 1920s.

“It influenced the socio-economic fabric of the region over the three decades by providing educational, competitive sporting and cultural opportunities.”

The book is available for purchase at the school’s administration office.
