Bradley Humble: Third person charged over alleged mutilation plot as powerlifter granted home detention

A third person has been charged in relation to an alleged plot to cut off a Perth man’s hands and tongue for a cash reward, it emerged in court as the former police officer turned champion powerlifter was granted home detention bail. During Bradley Leslie Humble’s appearance in Bunbury Magistrates Court on Friday, a strict set of protective bail conditions were read to him, including not being able to contact his co-accused Aaron Rhys Hart, as well as an unnamed third alleged co-offender. While no details of the third person’s identity were revealed in court, police confirmed they had charged someone with conspiracy to commit indictable offence, who would appear in Armadale Magistrates Court next month. Police alleged in previous court appearances Mr Humble had been offered $25,000 by an unnamed associate to carry out the plot. He then allegedly got in touch with co-accused Aaron Rhys Hart and promised him his share of the cash if he took part, before obtaining and editing a PDF document of a WA Police search warrant. Mr Humble then obtained dress pants, shirts and shoes, along with notebooks that featured the WA Police insignia and a hatchet. The pair allegedly arrived at the target’s Canning Vale home in possession of cable ties and duct tape and said they were detectives from the firearms squad and were there to conduct a search of the property for guns in relation to a restraining order. They allegedly told the victim he would be “arrested” if they were not let in. When he challenged the men’s police credentials and contacted a friend, the pair allegedly left the property but not before warning the man police would be on their way to arrest him. Mr Humble was arrested several days later in Bunbury and allegedly made admissions to the offending in a police interview. After prosecutor Sgt Troy Gildersleeve told the court police would not object to home detention bail provided Mr Humble had to abide by a set of strict conditions, Magistrate Benjamin Tyers granted the application. Along with the home detention bail, Mr Humble was ordered to surrender any passport in his possession and not apply for a new one, notify police of any internet-enabled devices in his possession and surrender them upon request for inspection, as well as a further protective bail condition barring him from contacting the alleged complainant. The matters were then adjourned to return to court later in October. Mr Hart appeared in Bunbury Magistrates Court in September, but his matter was adjourned for legal advice without a bail application.
