Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre has received more than $100,000 in Lotterywest funding to develop a new program to expand community access to performing arts.

Bunbury MLA Don Punch presented the $114,000 in funds and said he commended the team at BREC for bringing more young people into theatre.

“The Lotterywest grant will allow BREC to keep ticket prices low for school performances, subsidise transport costs for regional schools and partner with local musicians to develop a live and local showcase as well as support the inaugural production of the newly formed Youth Performance Company,” he said.

“This approach of actively engaging people with the performing arts won’t just benefit BREC in the form of new audiences, it will benefit our community by expanding the cultural skills and knowledge available to support new activities for years”
