A Bunbury man has been charged over an alleged crime spree in Lancelin yesterday.

Northam detectives charged the 36-year-old man following an investigation into several incidents across the town.

Police allege the man slashed the tyres of a vehicle parked on Indian Ocean Drive near Caraban Road in Caraban about 1.10pm.

The man then went to the home of a person known to him on Ocean Farm Drive in Nilgen, where he allegedly set fire to a room which was destroyed in the blaze.

A short time later, police say the man was seen driving on Ocean Farm Drive where he allegedly did not stop for officers and accelerated away.

Police later arrested the man at a roadhouse in Gingin.

The man has been charged with reckless driving, failing to comply with a direction to stop, having no authority to drive, criminal damage by fire and breaching a police order.

The man is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today.
