Bunbury’s Krikke Motorsport team within touching distance of Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series title

Bunbury’s Krikke Motorsport team is within touching distance of securing the Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series title after a dramatic win for driver Dayne Kingshott at Perth Motorplex on Saturday night. A double-header weekend started poorly when Kingshott crashed in the feature race on Friday at Bunbury Speedway, but he still managed to finish seventh after the car was patched up during the delayed stoppage. Driving a freshly-built car, Kingshott then qualified on pole position and was not headed for the entirety of Saturday’s race, with the result meaning he will only need to qualify for the feature race in the final round of the season to seal the title. Kingshott said securing the win with most of the team only operating on three hours of sleep was “very special”. “I’m so grateful I was happy to keep up my end of the bargain,” he said. “With Saturday night’s track being so fast, the key was qualifying towards the front for the feature race, and that’s what we managed to do, and it was one of the keys to the win. “Despite the track being fast, I still had to go out there and drive well, which was made easier due to my Krikke Motorsport team giving me a great car to get the job done.” Krikke Motorsport team manager Ryan Krikke reserved special thanks for the other teams who helped repair the car on Friday night. “This was one of the most satisfying wins I’ve been involved with over the years, as the whole team put in a massive effort to even get to the track on Saturday night and to come away with the win was the perfect reward,” he said. “I couldn’t be prouder of the whole team for all of their efforts to get this win.” The Sprintcar Series grand final will be held at the Perth Motorplex on Saturday night.
