Bushfire under control near Australind

A section of Forrest Highway was closed for a short time as a bushfire burned out of control near Australind and Roelands.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services has this afternoon issued a bushfire advice warning, asking people in the area to stay alert and drive with caution.

The fire started near the Forrest Highway and Raymond Road intersection in Roelands.

There is no threat to lives or homes, but there is a lot of smoke in the area.

The fire is burning on both sides of Forrest Highway north of Raymond Road.

Forrest Highway was closed north-bound from Raymond Road, with diversions in place.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
