The fledgling Capel Youth Collective Drama Club will perform its inaugural production, Sir Knickety Knox and the Dragon, at the Ocean Lutheran College Theatre on Sunday.

Program coordinator Chloerissa Eadie said the club was about “building healthy minds through drama to encourage youth to reach their full potential”.

“The ethos behind starting the Capel Drama Club is to instil confidence in our young people and give them skills to be able to carry through to high school,” she said.

The weekly workshops are non-judgemental creative spaces, where individuals are free to be themselves and create friendships through drama.

The club has more than doubled in numbers since its first workshop in August.

“I couldn’t be happier to see so many kids having fun and enjoying themselves,” Miss Eadie said.

The club received two grants to help pay for costumes, sets and a lighting and sound operator.
