Applications for the 2019 Shire of Capel Minor Community Grants Scheme have been opened, with community groups urged to apply by shire president Murray Scott.

“People need to get together and apply for them,” he said.

Community groups, clubs and organisations eligible for the grants could receive up to half of the total project cost if the projected figure was under $2000 and one-third of the cost if it was between $2000 and $10,000.

Tuart Forest Primary School P and C was one of the big beneficiaries of last year’s grants, which received $3333 towards the purchase and installation of new playground equipment at the school.

Executive committee member Jennifer Herman said the grants made a huge impact on the project and other groups should apply for the grants.

“We are using the money for playground equipment for our upper school because we have none,” she said.

Applications for the grants will close on February 22.

Cr Scott said anyone who wanted help with the application could contact council staff.
