Capel-based jockey Kate Witten will be hoping to add another metropolitan win to her resume when she rides Miss Sondrio in the $22,500 Thomas Sabo Handicap (1200m) at Belmont Racecourse tomorrow.

The five-year-old brown mare has four career victories from just the eight starts, claiming a quartet of firsts after breaking maiden status in April last year.

Miss Sondrio has won once over the 1200m and will jump from barrier three in a strong field which includes Daniel and Ben Pearce’s Hashtag and Brock Lewthwaite’s Threesun, which will be ridden by Myalup’s Lucy Warwick.

Warwick had a fantastic weekend, claiming victory in Belmont on Saturday, before riding Fireman Freddy to victory to a win on Sunday in Kalgoorlie.
