Bunbury City Council has sent proposed guidelines for the use of cat traps in the city back to its policy review committee.

The council had been recommended to accept the new corporate guidelines for dealing with nuisance cats, but this week instead voted to defer its decision.

It came as Cr Tresslyn Smith tried to put forward a motion that the use of cat traps be stopped.

“The RSPCA doesn’t like them because they think they’re inhumane,” Cr Smith said.

A decision will be deferred until after the committee’s next meeting.
