The chefs for this year’s Chefs’ Long Table Lunch have been revealed, with the line-up to consist of a good dollop of experience and a sprinkle of fresh faces.

More than half of the chefs have cooked at the event every year since its inception in 2003, with just four set to make their first appearances.

Market Eating House owner Brenton Pyke will be one of those newcomers and said he was looking forward to the rare opportunity.

“In other cities there are more events where you get to work with a lot of local chefs, but down here there’s not many collaborative events like this,” he said.

“It’s a good event for all the chefs to be a part of and to work together for a really good cause.”

Perth chef Manuel Perez has been involved in the event for eight years and agreed it was great to contribute to the community and a privilege to work with one of the event founders, Leonie Kershaw.

“At the end of the event I go over to the chefs and I ask them if they’ll be on next year and if they shake hands they’re on the list, no excuses,” Ms Kershaw said.

“Some chefs approach us, like this year, and that’s wonderful because it’s new blood ... and they get the passion for the event.”

This year’s Chefs’ Long Table Lunch will be held on February 24 with attendees set to enjoy an eight-course banquet made almost entirely from locally supplied produce.
