A Christmas Remembrance Service will be held tonight at the St Augustine Uniting Church for people to remember lost loved ones.

The service is a special opportunity to remember and pay respects to a loved one who has died.

William Barrett and Sons funeral director Adrian Barrett said it was an opportunity to stop and take time to grieve as Christmas approached.

“Christmas, birthdays and all other milestones can be incredibly difficult for people who are grieving and those feelings shouldn’t be ignored,” he said.

“As a community, family and individuals, it’s incredibly beneficial to come together, support each other, express and acknowledge our grief.”

St Augustine Uniting Church Reverend Greg Ross said the Christmas period could be a tough time for some families.

“It lets people know that they are not alone in this dark hole they can sometimes find themselves in,” he said.

“It lets people know that it is safe to shed their tears without being embarrassed.”

The service will be held at 7.30pm tomorrow and will include tea and coffee afterwards.
