CinefestOz calls for submissions from filmmakers

Submissions for the 10th CinefestOZ Film Festival are now open, with Australian filmmakers vying for the chance to win the $100,000 prize for excellence in filmmaking.

Organisers are also calling for entries in the CinefestOZ Short Film Selection and General Features, with all submissions closing on June 2.

Shorts films can be entered into either the WA Filmmakers of the Future category for 18 to 25 year-olds or the Australian Open category.

Previous winners include Girl Asleep in 2016, which also picked up seven AACTA nominations, documentary Putuparri and the Rainmakers in 2015 and family feature Paper Planes in 2014.

Shortlisted films will premiere at the event to be held in Margaret River from August 23 to 27.

CinefestOZ chief executive officer Malinda Nixon said the festival’s strong focus on Australian content and filmmaking talent makes it unique.

“Over the last nine years, incredible feature and short films have been screened,” she said.
