City is set to turn yellow for big day
The CBD will shine bright with a sea of yellow in support of the Cancer Council’s annual Daffodil Day street appeal tomorrow.
Cancer Council South West regional education officer Shenae Norris said money raised through the Daffodil Day appeal would go towards funding cancer research, with the potential to find the next breakthrough in cancer treatment.
“Despite advances made in research and improving survival rates for many cancers, we know that one in two Australians will be diagnosed by the age of 85,” Ms Norris said.
“By supporting the Daffodil Day Appeal, you will help us invest in cutting-edge, life-saving research to give Australians hope for a cancer-free future.”
Ms Norris said there were many ways to support the Daffodil Day appeal by donating online, volunteering time or buying a daffodil pin or fresh daffodils tomorrow.
Bunbury Daffodil Day coordinator Sue Suckling said she was thrilled lots of people were willing to give a helping hand.
“The fact that so many people want to help, not just the people on the stalls, but also the people who donate,” Mrs Suckling said.
“Daffodils will be sold at shopping centres and stores across the South West.
“Be bright, have hope and buy a daffodil.”
Ms Norris said the ladies from Cancer Council Bunbury would be dressed in bright yellow and selling daffodils up and down Victoria Street from 11am.
