Cold front over SW brings flood warning

South Western Times

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a flood warning for people living near catchment areas in the South West.

People in catchments including Harvey River, Collie River and Preston River, should prepare for possible minor flooding expected from tomorrow.

The bureau has advised that a cold front will move over the South West Land Division today and early tomorrow.

Rains of between 15mm and 25mm will fall across the South West with possible isolated falls of up to 40mm.

The forecast rainfall combined with current catchment conditions may cause significant stream rises with areas of flooding possible along watercourses in the Lower West and South West from late today.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has advised people to move equipment and livestock early to avoid floodwaters.

DFES also advised drivers to be careful at crossings and floodways as river levels may rise rapidly.
