A Collie man has been charged over an alleged serious assault in Perth’s CBD that left 27-year-old Jarryd Dixon fighting for life.

WA Police yesterday released closed-circuit TV images of a man who they said was involved in the alleged one-punch attack outside Market Grounds on King Street about 9pm on Saturday.

Police have today charged a 24-year-old Collie man with common assault and grievous bodily harm over the alleged attack.

Police also confirmed Mr Dixon’s condition had improved and he was now in a stable condition.

The impact of the alleged punch caused Mr Dixon to fall and hit his head, causing serious head injuries.

Mr Dixon remained in an induced coma at Royal Perth Hospital’s intensive care unit.

Police allege Mr Dixon’s attacker ran off after the alleged punch before taking his long-sleeved shirt off and discarding it, acquiring another from a member of the public.

Police say a “large” amount of information was received from the public in relation to the incident.

The man is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on October 31.
