Corellas will continue to be culled after Bunbury City Council unanimously supported keeping its management plan in place.

The council received its first review into its Introduced Corella Management Program this week before voting to continue the cull into the 2019-20 financial year.

The council was forced to take action last year when flocks of the nuisance birds caused damage to infrastructure across the city.

Nearly 700 corellas have been trapped and killed across the city and surrounding suburbs.

Mayor Gary Brennan said continuing the cull was “essential”.

“There’s still damage being reported, not as much as previously so the cull has been effective, it’s important to continue with that,” he said.
