Council changes dog policy

Capel Shire Council has changed the areas where dogs are permitted on lead along beach foreshore areas within the shire.

Dogs will now be permitted all year round on lead at Dalyellup Beach from south west Norton Promenade to Dalyellup Boulevard.

Minninup Beach, Stratham – north east from Rich Road for a distance of 300 mts.

Peppermint Grove Beach – south west from Wave Walk to Peppermint Grove Road and Forrest Beach – south west from the northern edge of the gravel car park at Forrest Beach Road for a distance of 300 mts.

Dogs will be permitted on lead at Peppermint Grove beach from Barndi Walk carpark south to Wave Walk beach access point and Peppermint Grove Road south to Hardey Terrace, in addition to being allowed off lead from May through to October in those areas.

The council expects that dogs in off lead exercise areas be under their owner’s control.

Owners are required to carry leads, and there is an expectation that the dog will come when called and for owners to pick up after their dog.
