Bunbury City Council is in discussions with a potential tenant for the former South’s building in the CBD.

While chief executive Mal Osborne said during a community meeting last week that he was “not at liberty” to say too much, he did say that discussions were occurring.

“At this stage we’re having discussions with a group of people who are perhaps interested in using the building to activate part of the CBD,” Mr Osborne said.

The building has been vacant since the council paid $2.4 million for it in March last year.

Mayor Gary Brennan told the Bunbury Herald he could not reveal details, but what was proposed was likely to be a tourist attraction.
