Crowd flocks to show despite bad weather
POOR weather did little to deter the numbers at the 86th Brunswick Show on Saturday with more than 14,000 people coming through the gates.
Brunswick Agricultural Society president Wendy Dickinson said while the weather was not kind, the committee was happy with this year’s event and the numbers in attendance.
“Thank you to everyone for coming along and exhibiting or attending,” she said.
Long-time show participant Jean Shine officially opened the event and Ms Dickinson presented $5000 to the Burekup Cricket Club as this year’s main beneficiary.
Ms Dickinson said she was happy to see so many community groups fundraising through the show and thanked them for all their help.
At 3pm, the Grand Parade set out around the main oval led by the livestock section and followed by vehicles of every size from the exhibitors.
Crowds were entertained throughout the day with rides, live music, motocross shows, markets, stock whip performances and exhibits of crafts, cooking, growing and livestock.
At 8pm, the show finished spectacularly with the fireworks.
